Sometimes you just need a moment of space - and things look differently
We all have been in very busy phases on our lives. Those are the moments when everything can just seem to be too much, and we feel overwhelmed with all the things on our plate. Rather than loosing ourselves in the feeling of constant anxiety, it is best to take a moment to breathe, sit back and relax to allow us to pause and gather our thoughts.
I am currently on a holiday with my extended family. Of course like with all families, we also have good and bad moments on this trip. However, this time, I can deal with the more difficult moments a lot better as I sometimes then just take myself out of the situation and learn how to breathe.
This is a technique we can learn to build up resilience for ourselves and not get anxious immediately if someone challenges us. We don’t have to stay in the situation we are able to leave and take a moment to have some space. The idea here is to understand that we have a choice. A choice to stay or to go - a choice to relax our mind and not always accept to join into the challenge that presents itself in front of us. We can choose and we can choose better if we take ourselves out of the moment and take a breath.
What is great as well is if we do this always in a similar place. For example some of us when they feel life is overwhelming always feels the need to walk in the forest for go to the seaside. We therefore choose our happy place where it is easier for us to take a moment and switch off.
Take a moment to create some space in your head and some distance. This will help you to see things clearer and take out emotions that might not lead to you being able to correctly judge the situation.
It might sound very hard but it can really help to take a moment to breathe.
