Take time to reflect - it’s better for you
There are many things we have to juggle with in our lives. We need to be the high flying career person, the perfect parent and also want a happy partner. One might ask oneself - how is it even possible to bring all of that into a healthy balance ?
Unfortunately, very often the answer is - it isn’t. Nobody can always perform at 100 percent. Yes, you heard correctly - nobody. We all have good days and bad days, where we fly high and we sometimes struggle. The first step therefore, is to realize we are not perfect and to simply accept this. In accepting, we understand that is it ok not to be perfect. It is ok to show weakness and to also communicate to others that we stifle sometimes with what life throws at us. Because yes, it is a lot.
The second steps, after accepting imperfection, is then to als ourselves the question where the pressure of being a career high flyer or a perfect parent comes from. And very soon, we find the answer that might surprise and shock us - it comes very often purely from within us .
It is us who expects us to be perfect. Very often, people misinterpret this fact and make it seem like the pressure for excellent comes form their external environment. In the majority of cases this is not the case. The person who puts pressure, anxiety and stress on themselves is purely us, ourselves.
Once we have understood this, we can start to actively work on changing our inner mindset. Here, things like meditation or mindfulness can be a great help. Every time we have a other Wade of perfection coming towards us, we have to realize it and actively train to not get overwhelmed by it . However, this is hard and a long process as it requires us to change our inner mindset. Important, the change has to come from within .
For example, every time we feel overwhelmed we can tell ourselves - this can wait until tomorrow - or ask the question - is this really necessary now and worth the stress it imposes on me ? Already by this short reflection, we take ourselves out of the situation and change perspective. This way, we will change our stance to perfection over time .
By doing so, we feel more fulfilled, happier and over time the anxiety and pressure ourselves reduces to tolerable levels. Taking ourselves out of the situation with a short reflection is something we can learn and do in every possible situation of inner anxiety. This way, we will be mentally healthy, which will open us new doors and will makes us even more successful and closer to fulfilment than we ever thought we would get to otherwise.
