Taking on new tasks and never stopping exploring makes us grow – even if it can be hard at times

Last weekend, I happened to be back in my old neighborhood in London, where I was still living up until seven months ago. I felt great to be back, but at the same time strange as I felt like my life had changed and developed from that in a rapid speed in those seven month and it felt a bit like going back to a past that felt like had long gone. However, while I was there, I was also proud that I embraced the change and that I discovered new ways that made me happy that I would have never imagined were possible. This shows, that change and taking on new things we might at first not feel very sure about can be a great accelerator to happiness. The idea here is to never stop exploring and to not see change as something scary and negative, but as a positive force for us to grow and adjust to new circumstances.

However, this is often easier said than done. Last year, I went through a very important year, where I made decisions on where to live and other major aspects in life, including having a family that took careful planning and consideration. Those changes do not come easily and often require careful planning and thinking before we can jump. Of course, there are those people amongst us that make those decisions more spontaneous and lighthearted and hopefully very often they then work out to be fine, however most of us are not that way inclined. There are those key decisions in life that give us reward when we get them right, however they can have a major impact as well if we get it wrong. The important thing is, that we never stop exploring opportunities and are open to change - as this will make us grow in the long term.

Making decisions is therefore important and always involves being confronted with new tasks at hand. It is important that rather than shying away from them, we embrace those new tasks, even if it might be hard at the start and we feel overwhelmed. In the end, the reward of personal growth and looking back at what we achieved will be amazing.

Unfortunately, no growth comes without hardship. We must hang in there to get the reward of those steps and tasks we are taking on. We should be courageous and are working which will make the journey until we get rewarded easier and faster. It takes courage, curiosity, and hard work to gain happiness. For myself, it took courage of leaving my comfort zone to move to a new place, become a mother, support my husband having a business, which are only a few decisions and tasks at hand that were very much out of my comfort zone. But breaking down those tasks further, knowing what I wanted to do and taking things step by step allowed me to create a plan, prioritize on tasks and now harvest the rewards of those tough decisions made.

When I therefore walked down those streets in my old neighborhood, I felt happy top be back, but I also felt rewarded with having made the right decision in going on a new journey for a new phase in my life. I felt like I made the right decisions for this new chapter and that excited me a lot. Of course, I will have doubts at times, but the direction felt right which was rewarding to know even when it get tough keeping exploring and making changes in a courageous way can actually lead to happiness and growth.
