The end of something is also always the beginning of something else - that might even be better

For many, September is always a very melancholic one, as it marks the end of summer for many, which is often a time of ease, endless partying and just enjoyment of life. However, those thoughts very often turn out to be just in our head. Therefore, rather than saying September marks the end of summer, we could argue that it also marks the beginning of a new season - autumn – standing for coziness, time together as well as beautiful autumn leaves. Autumn also brings us ever close to the next spring, already waiting around the corner.

The example of the seasons shows that the end of something also always markets the beginning of something else. Very often however, our mind is so busy getting negative and depressed about the end of one thing in our live, that we miss the joy of something else stating. Rather than depressed, we should be excited about all the new things ahead of us. Every end also marks a new beginning at the same time. So why do we very often not embrace this?

The problem, as with so many things in our life is fear. And specifically, the fear of the unknown. We fear that what is ahead is worse or cannot be better than what we have just experienced. Autumn cannot be better than the summer we just had. This is however the wrong line of thought. It might not be better, but it might be different – and we should be open to that. We should leave our fear of the unknown behind and be open to all the new and exciting things ahead of us. We need to be open to leave one period of our lives behind and embrace the new one ahead of us. However, for many this is extremely difficult to mere impossible.

The cure starts with getting over our fears of the unknown. We need to be able to get out of our comfort zone and have a general happiness and ease in our lives. Then, we don’t need to be depressed, by one thing coming to an end. We need a mind switch here. Rather than focusing on the negative part of the equation of one thing ending, we need to switch our mind to the positive side of something new and exciting to start. As always, when we say goodbye to someone, we can say hello to someone else when we arrive at our destination. The idea was already featured in advertisements being “I say goodbye and you say hello”, we always have a positive and a negative part of the equation, we can actively decide which one we want to focus on. It is an active choice that will make it easier to deal with negative experiences and change in our lives.

Again, every time something ends, something new starts. It might not be better, just different but in no way something to be depressed and sad about. Rather than crying about the old, lets embrace the new, lets love the autumn and be in exciting expectation for the next spring. When autumn ends and we are used to our comfort zone, let’s get excited for Christmas.

The idea is to embrace the new, rather than being sad for leaving the old. Leave one period of your life behind but at the same time be excited for the new. It will lead to us overcoming the fear of change and the unknow which will help is in every aspect to live or happier and more fulfilled life, where we learn to enjoy al seasons of the year, not just the summer and get sad when it ends. A goodbye is also always a hello – remember that.
