When life gets too overwhelming - add some sparkle
Sometimes we have periods in our life where everything seems to be happening at once. Our head seems so full that we are about to explode. I am going through a phase like that at the moment - where life just seems to be taking its toll on me sometimes. I find it very important to apply some mindfulness then and remove myself from the moment where my brain just seems to go on a never ending rollercoaster. There are several things that can help add a little happiness and sparkle to your life again.
The first thing that can be great is to come back to the actual moment. What is happening right now? Most of our stress is related to events of the future that often might not even happen how we project them to. The issues and dramas are just in our heads - so let’s come back to reality for a moment.
Secondly, look at everything we have achieved and that has worked out for us so far. This will give a boost in self confidence and self value which will make us believe in ourselves for challenges ahead for the future as well. Especially focus on things you can be grateful for and most importantly write them down. This way, you can look back at all your achievements and be proud of how far you have already come.
Also, don’t be too hard on yourself and manage expectations. You don’t need to achieve everything at once - your life will never be perfect at any point - it can’t be. So manage expectations and understand that it is ok to postpone certain things simply because you don’t have the mental capacity right now.
Life can be overwhelming sometimes - most of those things that cause anxiety and stress are in our head. It is therefore ok to ask for help - talk about your stress and don’t try to show a perfect Fassade. Talk about what bothers you or your support network and get help. It will make bearing the stress easier when you are together.
Life can throw many things at us as the same time. Add a bit of sparkle again by telling you are great , looking at your achievements and ask for help when you have difficult times. That’s ok - nobody is perfect and that is a good thing
