Sometimes things take time to become good - so take your time

While many of us shy away from making decisions, we still are faced with them every single day. Our entire life is about making decisions and choices. However, for many of us making especially big decisions that affect large part of our life feel very scary and puts a lot of pressure on us to make the right choices. However, there are certain ways how we can make the situation less scary for ourselves – we need to learn to take our time with decisions as well as not to be afraid to make decisions and even sometimes even wrong ones.

Big decisions that influence our life in a lot of ways, for example where we live, our jobs or who we marry take a lot of time and careful consideration. The more influence a decision has on our life, the harder it seems to make the right choices. Also, as a rule, the more impactful a decision, the more time we should take until making that choice. Rather hastily jumping into something, we should carefully evaluate all the options at hand and make an informed decision. Evaluating all the options helps us move away from an often purely emotional decision-making process to a more rational one. Careful gathering of information, evaluation and rational decision making can help break down choices that seem overwhelming into smaller pieces that come together to form a bigger picture that makes it easier for us to make a choice.

Very often, things take time to turn out to be very well. The same goes for decision making. It is important that we take this time for coming up with ideas, inspirations, and strategies to get to the best possible solution for us.

However, to overthink can also be a problem here. We should not think about a decision for too long as well, as this can lead to overthinking and us shying away to choose at all in the end as we get overwhelmed with all our thoughts. Decision making is good, and nothing to be afraid of. Thankfully new face both complex and very often fewer complex decisions and the less complex decisions are a good training for decision making that helps us later with complex decision making.

We therefore need to find a balance between making decisions actively even if they are complex and painful, and taking our time to make them rather than quickly jumping at the easy solution just driven by our emotions. We need to take time to carefully evaluate our options and get to know the facts, but the important bit is that ultimately, a decision or choice must be made – there is no way around it. However, the god things are the more pre-work we did at arriving at the decision by taking time, the easier it should be to make that final choice and it will seem a lot less scary and likely that we will make a wrong choice in the end.

Very often, in our day to day lives, we are rushed into hectic decision making. It is important that especially with complex decisions, we learn to take out time and accept that there will not be easy answers from the start. That is ok, and we should take time to make good choices for us in the end. Good things and decisions take time - remember that - and you will not shy away from making complex and tough choices which is inevitable if we want to live a happier and more content life in the end.
