Write down your goals and see what you achieved - it will boost your confidence

As the year is close to coming to an end, its that time again for reflection and looking back of what kind of a year it has been. Looking back means to reflect, think about successes and failures we experienced this year as well as be grateful for loved ones and surely many other things in our lives. While a lot of people take the quiet holiday time at the end of the year to reflect and look back, not a lot do it in a thorough and sustainable way to benefit from it in the year ahead. This can change, with a few simple ways to get it right.

Once we start a new year, many of us have ambitious goals and resolutions of what we want to do or achieve in that exciting, fresh new year ahead. However, rather than immediately imposing the burden of new challenging goals and targets on us, we should take a moment to reflect on all our achieved goals as well as on the not achieved ones this year. Not only should we reflect on those, but we should write them down. Ideally, we would write down our goals at the start of every year, to then later have the change to go back to those and see what became of them. Many of us shy away from this, as they think it can be very painful, especially when we realize that we have not achieved most of our goals. However, that can be a good thing too.

Writing our goals down and reflecting on them during the year, can help us boost our self confidence and have a much more intense reflection on them. Every single goal on our list that we have achieved, however large or small can be a major boost to our confidence and mood, especially in stressful and anxious times. It is even better if we can go back in time further and check in on our goals from a few years ago to see the great thing we have achieved to be immensely proud of. It will help us to see what a great self-development we had and encourage us to have new energy for challenges we might face in the future.

However, what about those goals we did not achieve and what if that is most of them? Even more of a reason to reflect and go back to goals you have written down. There might be many reasons why we have not achieved those that have nothing to do with self-blame. Maybe our circumstances have changed, we moved on with life or our life to a different direction to what we initially intended it to. It is still very important that we become aware of this by looking back to see if we feel we are on the right track and living the life we desire to or if we must make changes from time to time. Further, if we did not achieve some of those goals, even if our circumstances have not changed, it a great to still know desires and goals we must are not yet reached our achieved yet. We are still on a journey, and it is always good to have some things to thrive for and work for that we feel we are not quite there yet.

We need to understand that even with these goals we have not achieved - it is ok to fail, even though we should not even see this as failure, rather than development. It is ok to not achieve all our goals, in fact, if we achieve any of them that is already something to be proud of as life throws things our way, distractions in many forms and challenges that make it hard to achieve goals and stay focused in the first place. It is ok to not achieve our goals, but we should not be afraid to reflect on them and question our desires and wishes.

Take the holiday tome to reflect on your goals, be proud of those you achieved and keep working on those that you did not. Be confident with your achievements and work on things you still desire.
